Sunny is primarily an adjective used to describe the weather, and it’s sunniest when there’s not a cloud in the sky. But sunny can also be used to refer to a person’s outlook on something, and if they’ve got a sunny outlook on life then that’s to be admired. But some people, they can’t see things sunnily, even if they want to as much as possible. Having a drearier outlook on life can be a sign of the person having depression, and unfortunately, it is one of the most common mental health disorders. Cymbalta is a medication name that will appeal to people because it has ‘cymbal’ in it, but what is Cymbalta used for?

It’s used to treat depression, and it rebalances brain neurotransmitters by keeping one of them – serotonin – out of the reuptake process so that the person’s mood is improved and more stable. That goes a LONG way towards creating a sunnier outlook for people, and medications like this are especially effective when the patient uses them in conjunction with behavioral therapy approaches like CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and cutting way back on ice cream and chocolate.

There’s more to what is Cymbalta, and that’s because it is also prescribed to treat generalized anxiety disorder. In rarer instances, it may also be used for fibromyalgia pain treatment or to lessen pain from diabetic neuropathy. But the majority of the time Cymbalta will be prescribed to treat depression and if users stay on the medication and take it as regularly and frequently as required it is likely that they’ll be in a much better place mentally within a short period of time.

Slow and Steady

Our discussion here around what is Cymbalta has made it clear that this is an SSRi antidepressant medication that improves depression treatment outcomes for people. In best-case scenarios, the patient may be able to stop using antidepressants eventually and this will be the aim for any doctor who is helping their patients. It is possible for many individuals, but one thing that is EXTREMELY important with SSRi medications is that you don’t just stop taking them entirely at once when you feel you’re not depressed anymore.

Do so and you’re at risk of having a depression relapse, but if you taper off depression medication by taking smaller and smaller dosages of it, you’ll be much more likely to have a smoother brain transition and by using Cymbalta you may even want to actually go out and buy your first set of cymbals! The high quality of Sabian, Zildjian, Meinl, and Paiste cymbals have nothing to do with what is Cymbalta used for, but if you’re a person who is struggling with depression you should focus on your mental health and well- being and then start with percussion later down the line.
