Canada Drug Export to USA Ban & Online Pharmacy

Ban Medicine Export

No matter what angle you look at it from, life is getting more expensive for Americans and most Americans are middle-class earners. Inflation is natural, but it’s usually mediated by increased wages. Not over the last 40+ years here though, and the prices of Rx drugs in America is a problem related to all of this because so many Americans can’t afford their medication. A new Canadian export ban on drugs to the USA keeps Canadian online pharmacy on the radar though.

Things started to look more promising when the White House introduced their July 2020 Executive Order that promised to make it easier to import and order drugs from Canada on a much-expanded scale. The concern in Canada has been that they may not have enough of these medications for their own supply if large amounts of those medications are sent to the USA.

Canada sources 68% of its medications from outside the country, much of it coming from Asia.

This is why just this week Health Canada announced it would ban the export of some drugs to USA, citing the need to protect their domestic supply of medications. Some of which would be drugs more in need because of COVID-19, as well as other medications needed in Canada regularly and in large volume for healthcare across the country.

Lower Prices on Drugs – New President-Elect?

No doubt there would be some bellicose posturing from the previous POTUS if he were going to be staying in the Oval Office past January. But following this Canada export ban on drugs to USA, President-elect Biden has stated he will look at lowering the prices of drugs in America through policy changes.

That may be more of a challenge given that the recent Executive Order is not going to make it as easy to order medication online from Canada. At least in the way the current administration expected it would.

Here is what Biden and VP-Elect Kamala Harris have said are Democrat plans for drug pricing in America and how to perhaps make it easier to order drugs from Canada online.

The Biden Administration has said that it wants to repeal rules preventing drug companies from directly negotiating with Medicare over drug prices. A government-funded plan to use its muscle to keep prices low for American seniors would follow, and the Biden plan also says it intends to “open up foreign markets for consumers” and limit the launch prices of new drugs that have no competition.

The first part of that is in line with the idea that ordering drugs online from Canada is an increasingly good option for Americans to buy medication for less from Canada. He also said he’d like to see lower prices for generic drugs online too.

There’s no doubt that the VP nomination of Mrs. Harris is an excellent choice. Having her in that role is going to be a huge plus for the country over the next 4 years.

However, she is not the only Kamala Harris with plans to run for office – R.I.P. James Harris, one of the greats from the old WWF World Wresting Federation.)

2x Prices in 6 Years

The US Gov’t had no choice but to address this issue the way they did last July. Overall, prices for drugs have doubled in price since 2014. For a lot of people – and especially those who don’t have any type of Medicare coverage and are in households earning under 50k or so – that’s going to be a huge problem if you’re a Type 2 diabetic needing insulin.

We mention insulin because as of now insulin is still one of the medications you can’t get reliably when you order medication online from Canada, and it was unclear whether it’s one of the medications that the USA was looking to import from Canada. And now maybe won’t be doing with this Canada ban on drugs to USA announcement from Health Canada.

And as expensive as insulin is, there’s only one Type 2 diabetic medication that comes in the top 5 for the most prescribed medications in America. That’s Metformin (Glucophage), and it’s a great example of how you can order drugs for less from Canada pharmacy online.

But let’s chew on this too – Rosuvastatin (Crestor) a cholesterol medication, averages a whopping retail price of $430-something on average in America. Crestor is a medication you can order online from Canada and get your medication for a much better price.

How many Americans are on medication for high cholesterol too, right? Exactly. This is a great example of how you can save money ordering drugs from Canada, and for a drug that probably millions of Americans take.

Let’s wrap it up with a list of the rest of that top 5 drugs prescribed in America:

  • Zestril (Lisinopril)
  • Lipitor (Atorvastatin) – Average of $218 a refill in the USA! Order Lipitor online from Canada
  • Synthroid (Levothyroxine)
  • Glucophage (Metformin)
  • Norvasc (Amlodipine)
