Cholesterol is often described as being ‘waxy’ and having that consistency is part of what makes buildups in arteries such a big problem. Have a little bit of still-warm candle wax to cool and harden on your skin and you’ll begin to get how that is. It hardens up and sticks to the skin the same way it would on any surface, to the point where it only comes off if it is broken apart. Certainly not the similar scenario you want to have with the channels that move oxygenated blood around your body. High blood cholesterol is a big health risk, and this leads to asking what is Zetia and what is Zetia used for.

It's an RX medication that is used to lower blood cholesterol levels, and LDL cholesterol specifically. HDL cholesterol is the type that is beneficial for your body, and while LDL cholesterol is needed in some amounts it is the one that is harmful if those proper levels are pushed way higher by a person’s diet and lifestyle choices. HDL can stay, but LDLs got to go and people looking into what is Zetia will be pleased to learn that the medication is proven effective for cholesterol control.

And that control is certainly important because when waxy cholesterol builds up in those arteries it means that one coming free means blood clots may occur, and in worst-case scenarios, clots can cause heart attacks or strokes. Even if that doesn’t happen and you do get DVT in your legs it can be a real nuisance. Zetia will only work really well and bring down cholesterol extensively if you are making smart changes to your diet to eliminate cholesterol. This is part of what is Zetia as well.

Mutation to Sensation

Much of the time Zetia will be prescribed as a hyperlipidemia treatment medication, and in these instances the people won’t have had anything at all to do with their development of high blood cholesterol. It happens because they have a gene mutation that causes less cholesterol to be cleared from the body than would be the case for a normal person without the mutation or anything related to what is Zetia. Blood lipids are way up at all times as result when a person has the mutation and hyperlipidemia because of it.

If a person has high cholesterol, it magnifies high blood lipid risks in a big way, and for some, it may be more practical to address the cholesterol issue as a means of ensuring high blood lipids don’t come along with those risks of a more likely heart attack or stroke. Going for a triglycerides test once every few years after you turn 50 is a very good idea for men, and women too although generally women don’t have problems with high cholesterol that men do. All of this is helpful information around what is Zetia and the sooner you’re proactive with your health here the better.
