Ozempic Baby Trend: Weight Loss Meds & Your Birth Control

<< Go back to blog

There are plenty of people who will think that Ozempic is a prescription weight loss medication. After all that is why it has the level of buzz around it that it does. It is actually a Type 2 diabetes treatment medication, but the reason there is so much demand for it and discussion around it is because of its ability to promote weight loss. But it seems now that Semaglutide has another off-label use case going for it, as apparently if you use the medication, you may find yourself with an Ozempic baby. So how does that work?

Did you know you can buy Ozempic from Canada and save upto 80% compared to local pharmacies in USA? Check our prices and availability now.

Blood sugar regulation, weight loss, and a fix for infertility? Apparently so, and there is already a pharmacological explanation for the connection between Ozempic and fertility. And it is kind of a one-or-the-other / polar opposite kind of situation with a woman’s prerogatives with wanting to be pregnant or wanting not to be pregnant. If she is taking Ozempic though then conception may occur whether that is what she is hoping for or not. We can explain more about how this works, and that is exactly what we are going to do here.

The logical place to start will be the fact that we know Ozempic promotes weight loss, and a large part of how that works is that Semaglutide causes the digestive process to slow, and the stomach passes food along into the upper intestine more slowly. This is called gastroparesis, and it equates to feeling fuller and less of a compulsion to eat. But another less appealing aspect of gastroparesis is that it means medications are not absorbed as fully as they should be. An Ozempic baby may be the result.

Tradeoffs

So, there is a tradeoff if a woman is taking Ozempic to lose weight but is taking an oral contraceptive at the same time. She may be slimming down, but her chance of becoming pregnant is higher because the birth control medication has not been absorbed enough to be effective. That is scenario number 1 for how an unexpected Ozempic baby may arrive. It is going to be the one where the woman is pleased to have lost weight but disconcerted by the fact that she is pregnant, and especially if the father has been deported.

The next scenario where Ozempic improves fertility and an Ozempic baby becomes a possibility is where a woman’s progression towards a healthier body weight with medication means she starts to ovulate better. Research has shown that losing excess body weight and being at a more natural and healthier one means better ovulating for women, and as such it is more likely for them to become pregnant.

If that is something that has eluded the woman for many years and been a source of great distress, then it is great that Ozempic might make this wish finally would come true for her. It is easy for people to feel happy in these scenarios. Does Ozempic affect fertility? It certainly does, and it is going to be beneficial if this information is more readily available to women who have interests in both losing weight and getting pregnant at the same time.
