Wegovy is a subcutaneous injection available in a pre-filled pen. Each pen delivers a one-time dose of either 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, 1 mg, 1.7 mg, or 2.4 mg.
Inject Wegovy into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm once a week, on the same day each week, with or without food. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about any questions or concerns you may have about using Wegovy.
The usual starting dose is 0.25 mg once a week for 4 weeks. Your dose may increase every 4 weeks until you achieve 2.4 mg once a week.
The maintenance dose is 2.4 mg once a week.
If you have type 2 diabetes, monitor your blood sugar before starting and during treatment with Wegovy.
The active ingredient in Wegovy is semaglutide.
Avoid using Wegovy if you or a member of your family have had thyroid carcinoma (MTC), a type of thyroid cancer, or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
Avoid using Wegovy if you are allergic to semaglutide or any of the other ingredients contained in Wegovy.
