What is a Generic Drug?

Visco-3 comes in 2.5 mL pre-filled syringes. It is injected once a week for three weeks in the intra-articular space of the knee. The contents of the syringe should be used immediately after opening the packaging. Each syringe is for one use only. Discard any remainder.

There is 25 mg of sodium hyaluronate in each 2.5 mL pre-filled syringe.


Avoid using Visco-3 if you have any allergies to sodium hyaluronate or any other ingredient in Visco-3.

Avoid use of Visco-3 if you have a skin condition or infection at or near the site of injection.


  • Before you begin using Visco-3, tell your doctor:
    • If you have any allergies
    • About all the medications you take, including prescription and nonprescription medications.
    • If you have any medical conditions
    • If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
    • If you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed
  • Administer Visco-3 using a strict and sterile technique.
  • Do not use Visco-3 with disinfectants that contain quaternary ammonium salts for the skin. This can lead to precipitation of hyaluronate.
  • After injecting Visco-3, joint pain and/or swelling may occur.
  • You should avoid strenuous activity within at least 48 hours of injecting Visco-3.
  • Store Visco-3 away from light. Visco-3 is to be stored at temperatures below 77°F (25° C). Do not keep it in the freezer.

Side Effects

Joint pain, joint swelling, and pain at the injection site are the most common side effects of Visco-3 injections.

Immediately tell your doctor if you experience any increased or continuous side effects.
