What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. VETMEDIN (Pimobendan) is a veterinary medication that can be prescribed to dogs to treat congestive heart failure due to atrioventricular valvular insufficiency (AVVI) or dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM).

VETMEDIN works by making the muscles of the heart more sensitive to stimulation. VETMEDIN also causes the blood vessels of the heart to relax, increasing blood flow to the heart muscle.

VETMEDIN is administered at a dose of 0.23 mg/lb (0.5 mg/kg). After calculating the total daily dose, it should be split into two portions: a morning and a night dose.
