What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Description

Verquvo (vericiguat), a soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) stimulator, is used to decrease the risk of cardiovascular death and heart failure hospitalization for those who have recently been hospitalized or received IV medications for heart failure and are having symptoms of long-lasting heart failure and an ejection fraction less than 45%.

Verquvo is supplied in oral tablets of 2.5 mg, 5 mg, and 10 mg strengths.

Recommended starting dose: 2.5 mg by mouth once a day with food. If you cannot swallow the tablets whole, they may be crushed and mixed with water.

Your doctor may adjust your dose depending on your response to Verquvo. 

Ingredients

Vericiguat is the active ingredient contained in each tablet.

Contraindications

Avoid taking Verquvo with another sGC stimulator. Ask your doctor if you do not know if you are taking an sGC stimulator.

Verquvo should not be taken if you are pregnant.

Cautions

  • Do not administer VERQUVO to a pregnant female because it may cause fetal harm. 
  • Females of reproductive potential: Exclude pregnancy before the start of treatment. To prevent pregnancy, females of reproductive potential must use effective forms of contraception during treatment and for one month after stopping treatment.
  • Before you start taking Verquvo, tell your doctor:
    • About all the medications you take, including all prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
    • About any allergies you may have.
    • About your health problems.
    • If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
    • If you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed.

Side Effects

Verquvo can cause low blood pressure and anemia. However, these may not be the only side effects caused by Verquvo.

Call your doctor right away if you develop bothersome or continuous side effects.
