What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Ventolin (Albuterol) tablets are a medication used to treat and prevent bronchospasm in people with asthma and other lung diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Albuterol belongs to a class of medications called bronchodilators, which work by relaxing and opening the bronchial tubes (air passages) in the lungs. This action may provide relief for wheezing, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, and coughing.

The usual Ventolin tablet dosage is 4 mg three or four times per day for adults. However, the dosage may be adjusted based on factors such as the severity of the condition, age, and response to the medication. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 32 mg in adults.

For children aged 6-12 years, the recommended starting dose is 2 mg, taken three or four times daily, with the maximum daily dose not exceeding 24 mg. Follow the correct dosage and instructions provided by your healthcare professional or the instructions on the prescription label.

Make sure to swallow the Ventolin tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablets. Remember to take this medication consistently and at evenly spaced intervals to maintain a steady level in your body. If you happen to miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but do not double up the dose to catch up.

Ingredients

The active ingredient in Ventolin tablets is albuterol sulfate. In addition to albuterol sulfate, Ventolin tablets may also contain a number of inactive ingredients that aid in the tablet's effectiveness and stability. Some of these inactive components may include lactose monohydrate, pregelatinized starch, corn starch, and magnesium stearate.

If the medication becomes less effective for symptom relief or if you find yourself needing it more often, seek medical guidance immediately.
  • While on Ventolin tablets, follow your healthcare provider's advice about using other asthma treatments or inhaled medications.

Side Effects

Ventolin (Albuterol) Tablets may cause side effects. Common side effects may include nervousness, shakiness, headache, fast heart rate, and palpitations. In addition, some people may experience nausea, insomnia, weakness, muscle cramps, dizziness, and chest discomfort.
