What is a Generic Drug?

Triluron comes in either 2 mL glass vials or 2 mL pre-filled syringes to be injected at the intra-articular space of the knee. Once the syringe packaging or the vial's seal has been opened, Triluron should be used immediately. Each vial or syringe is for one use only. Discard immediately after use and discard any remaining quantities. 

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about any questions you may have. 

Ingredients

There is 20 mg of sodium hyaluronate in each 2 mL glass vial or 2 mL pre-filled syringe.

Contraindications

Avoid using Triluron if you have any allergy to hyaluronate or any other ingredient in Triluron.

Avoid using Triluron if you have had or currently have a skin condition or infection at or near the injection area.

Cautions

  • Before you start using Triluron, you and your doctor should discuss:
    • If you have any allergies
    • If you take any medications, including prescription and nonprescription medications.
    • Any medical conditions you have
    • If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
    • If you are currently breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed your baby
  • Triluron should be administered using a strict and sterile technique to prevent infection at the injection site.
  • Avoid using Triluron with disinfectants that contain quaternary ammonium salts for the skin. This can lead to the precipitation of hyaluronate.
  • After injecting Triluron, joint pain and/or swelling may occur. 
  • After injecting Triluron, inflammation in the knee may occur if you have rheumatoid arthritis or gouty arthritis. 
  • Avoid strenuous activities after at least 48 hours of injecting Triluron.
  • Avoid storing Triluron in light. Store in temperatures below 77°F (25° C). It should not be stored in a freezer.

Side Effects

Triluron injections can cause some side effects, including stomach trouble, pain or discomfort at the injection site, swelling of the knee, headache, itchy skin, and rash.

Immediately talk to your doctor if you experience any worsening or persistent side effects.
