Terms & Conditions of Program
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.
Tilade Inhaler contains nedocromil sodium, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent indicated for the prophylactic management of asthma. It is used to prevent bronchial inflammation and hyperresponsiveness, particularly in patients with allergic or exercise-induced asthma. Nedocromil stabilizes mast cells and inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators such as histamine and leukotrienes. Tilade is not intended for relief of acute bronchospasm but is effective in reducing the frequency and severity of asthma symptoms when used regularly.

Tilade Inhaler is typically administered at a dose of two inhalations (4 mg total) twice daily, although dosing may vary based on clinical judgment. The inhaler must be primed before first use and shaken well before each actuation. The medication should be inhaled deeply and held in the lungs for a few seconds to maximize delivery. Regular, scheduled use is essential for effectiveness. Patients should be advised not to use Tilade for immediate relief of asthma attacks and should have a rescue inhaler (e.g., salbutamol) on hand for acute symptoms.
Each actuation delivers:
Nedocromil sodium 2 mg
Inactive ingredients include:
Propellants such as CFC-12, CFC-114, and ethanol in earlier formulations. (Note: Availability and formulation may vary depending on local regulatory status and phase-out of chlorofluorocarbon propellants.)
Tilade is contraindicated in patients with:
Known hypersensitivity to nedocromil sodium or any component of the inhaler
Acute asthma attacks requiring fast-acting bronchodilators
Tilade should not be used for rapid symptom relief or during an acute asthma attack. Patients should be instructed on the correct use of the inhaler and advised to adhere to regular dosing, even if asymptomatic. Sudden withdrawal of systemic corticosteroids in patients transitioning to Tilade should be avoided. Monitor for paradoxical bronchospasm, which may require discontinuation. Tilade has limited data on use during pregnancy and should only be used if clearly needed.
Common and potential side effects include:
Throat irritation or coughing
Bad taste or unpleasant aftertaste
Nausea
Headache
Nasal congestion
Rare: paradoxical bronchospasm, rash, or hypersensitivity reactions
