Surgam (Tiaprofenic acid)

Description

Surgam (Tiaprofenic acid) is an anti-inflammatory medication used to relieve pain and inflammation caused by conditions like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis in adults. It helps reduce inflammation and pain by blocking the production of certain substances called prostaglandins. 

Directions

Surgam is available in 300 mg tablets. The usual recommended dosage for adults is 300 mg to 600 mg daily, divided into two or three doses. The maximum dose should not exceed 600 mg per day. Surgam tablets should be taken with meals to reduce potential gastrointestinal side effects. • Surgam may cause serious gastrointestinal problems, such as stomach or intestinal bleeding and ulcers, which can be fatal. These conditions can occur at any time while you are taking Surgam, with symptoms such as stomach pain, blood in stools, and vomiting blood.
• Surgam may lead to heart attack or stroke, particularly when used long-term or in high doses. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness in one part or side of your body, or slurred speech. 
• Surgam may cause liver damage. Contact your healthcare provider right away if you notice signs of liver problems such as upper stomach pain, itching, tiredness, flu-like symptoms, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes). 
• Surgam may cause a severe allergic reaction, especially in people allergic to aspirin or other NSAIDs. Symptoms can include difficulty breathing, swelling of your face or throat, hives, or skin rash. 
• Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or artificial UV light when taking Surgam as it may make your skin more sensitive. Wear protective clothing and use sunscreen.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Surgam may include stomach pain, indigestion, heartburn, drowsiness, and diarrhea. If these side effects persist or worsen, seek medical attention immediately.
