Robax Platinum (Methocarbamol / Ibuprofen)

Description

Robax Platinum contains two medications: methocarbamol and ibuprofen. It is used for the treatment of back pain, tense neck muscles, strains, and sprains that are caused by muscle spasms.

Robax Platinum is available in caplets for oral use. Each caplet contains 500 mg of methocarbamol and 200 mg of ibuprofen.

Directions

Take Robax Platinum as directed by your doctor. If you have any questions or concerns, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Adults and children who are at least 12 years old are recommended to take one to two caplets by mouth every four to six hours as needed. Patients should not take more than 6 caplets in 24 hours.

Ingredients

Methocarbamol and ibuprofen are the active ingredients in Robax Platinum. Colloidal silicon dioxide, copovidone, FD&C Blue No. 2, ferric oxide (red), hypromellose, methyl cellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, sodium starch glycolate, stearic acid are the inactive ingredients.

Contraindications

Patients should not take Robax Platinum if they have or are:

• peptic ulcer disease or gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding or inflammatory disease such as colitis or Crohn's disease
• taking acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) or any other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) such as ibuprofen or naproxen
• allergic to ibuprofen or other NSAIDs, ASA or other salicylates, methocarbamol, or to any other ingredient in Robax Platinum
• swelling inside the nose, or nasal polyps
• asthma, anaphylaxis, hives, stuffy or runny nose due to allergies, or skin rash
• dehydration
• serious liver or kidney problems
• Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and in the third trimester of pregnancy 

Robax Platinum should not be taken immediately before or after heart surgery.

Cautions

• Before you start taking Robax Platinum, inform your doctor of:
• All the medications you take, including prescription and nonprescription medications
• Your allergies
• Your health history and current medical problems, including diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, thyroid problems, asthma, kidney or liver problems, glaucoma, or blood clotting problems
• Your pregnancy or breastfeeding status

• Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how you are affected by Robax Platinum.
• Keep Robax Platinum out of reach of children.
• Patients should use Robax Platinum cautiously if they have heart failure, high blood pressure, or fluid retention.
• Patients should use Robax Platinum cautiously if they have GI tract irritation, diverticulosis, ulcerative colitis, or Crohn's disease.
• Patients who are at an increased risk of kidney or liver problems, taking diuretics, or are elderly should use Robax Platinum cautiously
• If you experience difficulty or pain when urinating, stop taking Robax Platinum and call your doctor.
• Patients who are at least 60 years old, have a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding disorders, take blood thinners or steroids, take Robax Platinum with other NSAIDs, or drink more than three alcoholic drinks a day while taking Robax Platinum are at an increased risk of stomach bleeding.

Side Effects

Heartburn, constipation, nausea, bloating, nervousness, or problems sleeping are some Robax Platinum side effects; however, these are not all the side effects that can be caused by Robax Platinum. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience bothersome or persistent side effects.
