What is a Generic Drug?

Description

Rinvoq is a medication prescribed to treat rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Rinvoq is reserved for patients who have tried and failed the medication methotrexate. It can be taken with methotrexate or with other RA medications.

RA is an inflammatory joint condition with symptoms including pain, swelling, redness, and tenderness.

Rinvoq modulates the immune system and makes it less active. Reducing the immune system helps to relieve symptoms of RA.

Cautions

Tell your doctor if you have any latent infections, including tuberculosis or other viral, bacterial, or fungal infections. Rinvoq can re-activate latent infections. 

Rinvoq has been associated with the development of certain types of cancers, including lymphomas.

Medications similar to Rinvoq may increase the risk of blood clots, including deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and stroke.

Rinvoq should not be used in combination with potent immunosuppressants like azathioprine and cyclosporine.
