It is used to decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach and treats ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), injury of the food pipe and conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (a condition where the stomach produces too much acid) and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. PREVACID is intended for short-term treatment (for 4 weeks) for healing and symptom relief.
PREVACID is not for immediate relief of heartburn symptoms.
