What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

If you have pancreatic insufficiency, your doctor may prescribe pancreatic enzymes to help digest certain foods. Pancreatic insufficiency can be caused by many diseases with symptoms including diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fatty stools.

Pertzye helps to break down food and assists with digestion so the smaller molecules can be absorbed for use by the body. Pertzye needs to be taken with every meal to be effective.

Take Pertzye as directed by your physician. The dosage for each person is different and may change based on the types of food you are eating.

The starting dosage is usually 500 lipase units per kilogram of body weight per meal and can be increased to 2500 lipase units per kilogram of body weight per meal, based on your nutritional needs.

Pertzye is taken with each meal and may also be taken with snacks.

The active ingredients in this drug include lipase, amylase, and protease enzymes.

There are no known drug-drug interactions with Pertzsye and other drugs.

This medication is made from pancreatic enzymes obtained from porcine sources. Use caution if you have an allergy to pork or pork products.
