What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

Description

Norpace is the brand name for Disopyramide phosphate. This medication is prescribed for irregular heartbeat treatment and belongs to the anti-arrhythmic class of drugs for lowering risk of heart failure. Treating tachycardia is one of the most common prescription cases for Norpace, and disopyramide phosphate capsules work by blocking electrical signals in the heart that lead the heart to have an irregular heartbeat. Strokes and blood clots are other irregular heartbeat risks that Norpace is designed to prevent by keeping the heart beating normally.

You can buy disopyramide phosphate with a doctor’s prescription, and the lowest price on Norpace will be when ordering medication online from Canada Drugs Direct.

Directions

The standard dosage for Norpace is to take one (1) capsule twice a day if you are taking extended-release Norpace, and four (4) disopyramide phosphate capsules if you are taking immediate-release Norpace.

Your doctor may change these dosage guidelines, and you should always take your medication exactly as shown in your prescription.

Ingredients

The active ingredient in Norpace is Disopyramide Phosphate.

Cautions

Use of medication may cause QP prolongation heart condition and risk increases with concurrent use of certain other medications. Tell your doctor if you are taking any other Rx medications during your initial consultation with him or her.

Use of Norpace may cause hypoglycemia (low blood pressure) in people with diabetes, heart failure, decreased kidney or liver function, or nutrition problems.

Drug interaction risks exist between Norpace and certain other Rx medications or OTC supplements, including fingolimod / calcium channel blockers like diltiazem and verapamil / amiodarone / dofetilide / flecainide / ketoconazole / pimozide / procainamide / quinidine / sotalol/ macrolide antibiotics like clarithromycin and erythromycin / quinolone antibiotics like sparfloxacin / phenytoin / rifampin / saquinavir.

Side Effects
