What is a Generic Drug?

Directions

Use Nix 5% dermal cream as prescribed by your doctor. If you have any questions or concerns about the medication, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Use Nix 5% dermal cream on the skin only. Avoid contact with your eyes or mouth. 

It is recommended to apply the cream from head to toe and leave it on for 8 to 14 hours before rinsing it off. If the mites don't go away, you may reapply it in 7 days.

Ingredients

Permethrin kills parasites like scabies and is the active ingredient in Nix 5% dermal cream.

Contraindications

  • Patients should not use Nix 5% dermal cream if they are allergic to its ingredients.
  • Patients younger than 2 years old should not use Nix 5% dermal cream. Before using Nix on a pediatric patient, talk to a doctor. 

Cautions

  • Before using Nix 5% dermal cream, tell your doctor about:
    • All the medications you use, including other skin creams, lotions, and ointments
    • Your allergies
    • Your health problems and medical history
    • Your pregnancy or breastfeeding status
  • Itching, swelling, and redness may worsen temporarily with the use of Nix 5% dermal cream.
  • Breathing problems or an asthma attack in patients who have ragweed allergies may occur with Nix 5% dermal cream use.

Side Effects

Nix 5% dermal cream side effects include burning, stinging, or itching.

However, call your doctor if you have side effects that are bothersome or won't go away.
