Myoflex Pain Relief Cream is a topical cream for the short-term relief of arthritis and rheumatic pain, as well as common aches in muscles, joints, tendons, and ligaments. It may help with backaches, stiff necks, strains, sprains, and other minor pain. Its active ingredient, trolamine salicylate, is related to aspirin and is absorbed through the skin where the cream is applied. Unlike many pain-relief rubs, Myoflex does not contain menthol, methyl salicylate, or capsaicin, so it does not cause a hot or cold sensation or have a strong medicinal smell.

Adults and children age 2 and older can apply the cream to the sore area up to 3 or 4 times daily. Do not use more than the label recommends, and close the cap tightly after each use. Ask a doctor before using it on children under age 2.
Wash your hands after applying the cream unless you treated your hands. Keep it out of the eyes and do not use it on broken or already irritated skin. You may cover the area loosely with a sterile bandage or a 2- to 3-inch elastic bandage, but do not wrap it tightly or use an airtight cover.
The medicinal ingredient in Myoflex is trolamine salicylate, also known as triethanolamine salicylate. Non-medicinal ingredients may include cetyl alcohol, edetate disodium, lavender oil, propylene glycol, purified water, sodium lauryl sulphate, stearyl alcohol, and white wax.
Avoid taking or using this medication if there is a known sensitivity to salicylates, including aspirin, or to any other ingredient in the cream.
Common side effects of Myoflex include:
Wash the cream off and discontinue it if the skin becomes badly irritated, blistered, or swollen. Salicylates can be absorbed through the skin, so ringing in the ears, a change in hearing, ongoing nausea or vomiting, dizziness, confusion, or unusually fast breathing all need prompt medical attention, especially when a large amount has been used. Seek immediate medical attention for signs of an allergic reaction, such as hives, swelling of the face or throat, wheezing, or difficulty breathing.
