What is a Generic Drug?

Directions

MinoLira comes in 105 mg and 135 mg scored extended-release tablets.

One mg per kg body weight by mouth once daily for 12 weeks is the recommended dose.

The dose may need to be adjusted in patients who have kidney problems.

Ingredients

Minocycline Hydrochloride is contained in each extended-release tablet.

Contraindications

Do not take MinoLira if you have allergies to other tetracycline medications.

Cautions

  • Before you start taking MinoLira, tell your doctor:
    • If you have any allergies
    • About any medications you may take, including prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements
    • If you have any medical conditions, including liver or kidney complications
    • If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
    • If you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed
  • Permanent teeth discoloration in infants and children during tooth development can be caused by MinoLira.
  • Severe irritation/inflammation and bleeding in the colon can be due to MinoLira. Immediately tell your doctor if you experience watery diarrhea, persistent diarrhea, or blood in stools.
  • Feeling dizzy or lightheaded can be a result of taking MinoLira. You should avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how you are affected by MinoLira.
  • Sensitivity of the skin when exposed to sunlight can be an effect of MinoLira. You should protect your skin while taking MinoLira and avoid using sunlamps or tanning beds.
  • Intracranial hypertension can be caused by taking MinoLira. Discontinue use if symptoms develop.
  • Autoimmune problems can be caused by MinoLira.
  • Serious allergic and skin reactions can be a result of using MinoLira. Discontinue use if you develop a rash or other symptoms. Immediately get medical attention if you start having trouble breathing, swelling of the lips, mouth, or throat, hives, or any other severe symptoms.

Side Effects

Dizziness, fatigue, headache, and itchy skin are the most common side effects of MinoLira. 

Immediately talk to your doctor if you experience persistent or worsening side effects.
