What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

Description

What is Lescol XL used for?

Fluvastatin is used along with a proper diet to help lower “bad” cholesterol and fats (such as LDL, triglycerides) and raise “good” cholesterol (HDL) in the blood.

Treatment of adults with primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia, as an adjunct to diet, when the response to diet and other non-pharmacological treatments (e.g. exercise, weight reduction) is inadequate.

Secondary prevention of major adverse cardiac events in adults with coronary heart disease after per-cutaneous coronary interventions.

Please consult with your Doctor before use if you:

  • Have an allergy to fluvastatin

  • Are taking gemfibrozil
  • Are pregnant or may be pregnant

Cautions
