What is a Generic Drug?

Directions

25 mg, 50 mg, 100 mg, and 200 mg strengths are offered in extended-release capsules of Kapspargo Sprinkle. 

Recommended starting dose for high blood pressure in adults: 25 mg to 100 mg by mouth one time a day. Depending on how well you respond to the medication, your dose may be adjusted.

Recommended starting dose for high blood pressure in pediatric patients who are at least 6 years old: 1 mg per kg by mouth once daily, not to exceed 50 mg per day. According to your response, your doctor may adjust your dose. 

Recommended starting dose for ischemic chest pain: 100 mg by mouth one time a day. According to your response, your doctor may adjust your dose.

Recommended starting dose for heart failure: 25 mg by mouth one time a day. According to your response, your doctor may adjust your dose up to a maximum dose of 200 mg per day. 

Ingredients

Metoprolol Succinate is the active ingredient in Kapspargo Sprinkle. 

Contraindications

Avoid taking Kapspargo Sprinkle if you have any allergy to metoprolol succinate or any of the other ingredients in Kapspargo Sprinkle.

Avoid taking Kapspargo Sprinkle if you have a severely slow heart rate, if you have greater than first degree heart block, or if you have sick sinus syndrome without a pacemaker.

Do not take Kapspargo Sprinkle if you are in cardiogenic shock or have decompensated heart failure. 

Cautions

  • Before you start taking Kapspargo Sprinkle, inform your doctor:
    • If you have any allergies
    • About any medications you may take
    • Of any medical conditions you may have 
    • If you are currently pregnant or plan to become pregnant
    • If you are currently breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed
  • Further reduced amount of blood flow and oxygen to the heart could occur as a result of suddenly stopping Kapspargo.
  • Heart failure can worsen due to Kapspargo Sprinkle.
  • Avoid taking Kapspargo Sprinkle if you have breathing disorders or diseases.
  • In patients with pheochromocytoma, Kapspargo Sprinkle should be given with an alpha blocker and only after the alpha blocker has been initiated.
  • A high dose of Kapspargo Sprinkle should not be started before surgery. Chronic therapy with Kapspargo Sprinkle should not be withdrawn before surgery. 
  • Let your doctor know if you have blood sugar problems. Symptoms of low blood sugar can be masked by Kapspargo Sprinkle.
  • A thyroid storm in patients who have hyperthyroidism can be caused by stopping Kapspargo Sprinkle.
  • Arterial insufficiency or worsening of arterial insufficiency can occur with the use of Kaspspargo Sprinkle in patients who have peripheral vascular disease. 

Side Effects

Tiredness, dizziness, low heart rate, rash, shortness of breath, diarrhea, or depression are some of the most common side effects caused by Kapspargo Sprinkle.

Immediately talk to your doctor if you have side effects that worsen or persist.
