What is a Generic Drug?

Description

The Imitrex autoinjector is a prescription medication, designed for the administration of sumatriptan under the skin. Imitrex is a serotonin receptor agonist. Sumatriptan works by decreasing pain and aura in acute migraine episodes and cluster headaches. 

Imitrex works directly on serotonin receptors constricts of cerebral blood vessels, Imitrex ameliorates pain, light and sound sensitivity, alongside concomitant symptoms often associated with migraines. For many patients it enhances the well-being of individuals with neurological disorders.

Directions

Take 1-6 mg at the onset of migraine or cluster headache. Do not take more than 12 mg in one day.

Cautions

Tell your healthcare provider if you have a history of cardiovascular problems, gastrointestinal problems, a history of stroke, or a history of seizures.

Using more than prescribed may cause rebound headaches.
