Terms & Conditions of Program
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.
Gravol tablets, containing 50 mg of Dimenhydrinate, are classified as an antiemetic and antihistamine. This medication is commonly used to prevent and treat nausea, vomiting, and dizziness related to motion sickness. Gravol can make you feel very sleepy or dizzy, especially when driving, using machinery, or doing anything that requires alertness. These effects can be stronger in older adults. Avoid drinking alcohol or using other sedating medications while taking Gravol, as this can make drowsiness worse.
Taking too much Gravol, especially over a long period, may lead to confusion, memory problems, or even hallucinations. In rare cases, misuse or high doses have caused paranoia, temporary amnesia, and aggressive behavior.
Gravol is meant for short-term relief and should not be used regularly unless directed by your doctor. Long-term use or abuse of Gravol can lead to dependence, withdrawal symptoms, or serious health issues, including irregular heart rhythms or liver problems.
People with glaucoma, enlarged prostate, chronic lung disease, seizures, or thyroid problems should use Gravol with caution or avoid it entirely. If you have a history of asthma, heart conditions, or trouble urinating, talk to your doctor before using this medication.
In rare cases, Gravol may cause serious skin reactions like rashes or blisters. Also let your doctor know if you have allergies to aspartame, as the chewable tablets may contain it.
Gravol should not be used in children under 2 years of age. In children under 6, it may cause unusual excitement or nervousness. Older adults may be more sensitive to side effects like confusion or difficulty urinating.
The most common side effects of Gravol are drowsiness and dizziness, especially when taken at higher doses. Some people may also experience dry mouth, blurred vision, or mild stomach upset like nausea or constipation. Headache, fatigue, and coordination problems may occur as well. These effects are usually temporary, but you should tell your doctor if they don’t go away or feel severe.
More serious side effects are rare but possible. These can include allergic reactions, confusion, hallucinations, changes in heart rate, or difficulty urinating. In very rare cases, skin reactions like rashes or more severe conditions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome have been reported. Seek medical help right away if you notice symptoms like swelling, trouble breathing, or unusual mood or behavior changes.
