Terms & Conditions of Program
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.
Gammagard Liquid is a sterile, ready-to-use solution of Immunoglobulin (Human) designed for intravenous or subcutaneous administration. It is indicated for the treatment of primary humoral immunodeficiency (PI) disorders and other conditions requiring passive immunity. Manufactured using a proprietary purification process, Gammagard Liquid contains a broad spectrum of IgG antibodies representative of the normal human immune response. The product is stabilized with glycine and contains no added preservatives or sucrose, making it suitable for patients with sensitivities. By delivering concentrated immunoglobulin G (IgG), Gammagard Liquid helps support immune function and reduce the frequency of infections in immunocompromised individuals.

Routes of administration | Intravenous (IV), Subcutaneous (SC) |
Gammagard Liquid should be administered under the supervision of a qualified healthcare provider. Intravenous (IV) administration is typically infused every 3 to 4 weeks, while subcutaneous (SC) administration may be given more frequently, such as once weekly, based on patient needs and clinical judgment. Dosage is determined by body weight and individual patient response. Before initiating therapy, appropriate testing for renal function and serum IgA levels should be considered. Infusion rates should begin slowly and may be increased based on tolerance. Patients receiving home infusions should be adequately trained in aseptic technique and emergency procedures.
Each milliliter of Gammagard Liquid contains 100 mg of Immunoglobulin G (IgG), glycine as a stabilizer, and water for injection. The solution is free of sucrose and preservatives. Trace amounts of IgA may be present.
Gammagard Liquid is contraindicated in individuals with a history of severe systemic reactions to human immunoglobulin preparations. Patients with known IgA deficiency who have antibodies against IgA and a history of hypersensitivity to IgA may be at increased risk of anaphylaxis and should not receive this product.
Caution is advised when administering Gammagard Liquid to patients with pre-existing renal insufficiency, diabetes mellitus, volume depletion, or those using nephrotoxic drugs. Patients should be monitored for signs of hemolysis, thrombosis, and renal dysfunction. Gammagard Liquid should be infused at the minimum effective dose and rate necessary to achieve the desired clinical effect. Immunoglobulin administration may interfere with the efficacy of live virus vaccines. Baseline and periodic renal function assessments are recommended for long-term users.
Common side effects associated with Gammagard Liquid may include:
Serious adverse events such as thromboembolic events, aseptic meningitis, hemolysis, and renal failure have been reported, particularly in high-risk populations. Immediate medical attention is required for signs of allergic or anaphylactic reactions.
