What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

Description

Eyes are sensitive, and that's why any number of different factors can cause swelling of the eyeball to occur so easily. FML Forte is a prescription ocular corticosteroid medication for reduction of eye swelling and is most commonly a swollen eye treatment after injury or corrective surgery. It provides relief from swelling, itching and redness plus prevention of further complications that may result from unchecked inflammatory responses causing excessive swelling in the eyes. Using more or less of these eye drops for swollen eyes will depend on the severity of each patient's case following a doctor's examination.

Directions

  1. Wash hands thoroughly.
  2. Shake the bottle while being sure to not touch the dropper tip onto any other surface as this may create a risk of contamination.
  3. Tilt your head back, look upward, and pinch and pull the lower eyelid to create a conjunctival sac.
  4. Hold the dropper right above your eye and squeeze it to dispense 1 drop into the sac.
  5. Look downward and then keep your eyes closed gently for 1 to 2 minutes.
  6. Place one finger at the corner of your eye (near the nose) and apply gentle pressure to make sure the medication stays in the eye. It is important to not blink or rub your eye at this point.

Repeat these steps for your other eye if both eyes are inflamed.

Do not rinse the dropper and after each application you must replace the dropper cap.

If you are using any other ocular medications at the same time, you should wait at least 10 minutes before applying them, but it is best to do so at an entirely different time of the day.
