What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Description

Estrofem is a prescription medication commonly used for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in women experiencing menopause. It contains estradiol, a form of estrogen hormone that plays a vital role in the female reproductive system. 

Estrofem is prescribed to alleviate symptoms associated with menopause, such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and mood changes. Additionally, it can help prevent osteoporosis, a condition characterized by weakened bones.

Directions

The usual dosage is 0.5-2 mg by mouth once daily. The tablet is available in 1 mg or 2 mg tabs.

Estrofem can be taken with or without food.

Do not stop taking this medication without talking to your doctor because it can precipitate symptoms of menopause.

Cautions

Before starting treatment with Estrofem, tell your medical history and any pre-existing conditions with your healthcare provider. Certain medical conditions, such as a history of blood clots, liver disease, or breast cancer, may contraindicate the use of Estrofem. 

Your doctor should regularly monitor you during treatment with Estrofem.

This drug is only for women experiencing menopause and should not be used by any pregnant or breastfeeding.

Using estrogen to prevent menopause symptoms can increase the risk of blood clots, stroke, and certain cancers.

Use caution if you have a history of liver or kidney problems.
