What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Fidaxomicin is a macrolide antibiotic class drug that works by stopping the growth of bacteria so that chronic diarrhea plus symptoms like stomach pains and cramping and blood or mucus in the stool are minimized and have less duration. You may want to make temporary diet changes while using Dificid medication to further reduce gastrointestinal upset and improve medication effectiveness.

Directions

Standard dosage guidelines for Dificid is to take 1 Dificid 200mg tablet twice each day at even 12-hour intervals. Medication may be taken with food or outside of mealtimes, and children may take a lower dose specified for them depending on their weight.

Cautions

Inform your doctor of any history of major restorative heart surgery, allergies to azithromycin or clarithromycin, or surgery scheduled in the near future before beginning on Dificid.

Use medication when pregnant only if a doctor approves this course of action.

Interactions
