What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

Hemorrhoids are extremely unpleasant and OTC hemorrhoid creams work well for many people. Those who don’t get effective hemorrhoid relief from them will want prescription hemorrhoid reliever like Cortifoam. It delivers reliable relief from the itching and burning of hemorrhoids and always starts to work quickly. Cortifoam rectal foam may also be prescribed for treatment of ulcerative colitis. If you are wondering how to use Cortifoam, it is as easy as using the provided applicator.

You can buy Cortifoam with a prescription at most pharmacies, and this product is always available for the best price when you order medication online from Canada Drugs Direct.

Proper use of this foam enema for hemorrhoids is as follows:

  1. Wash hands before using Cortifoam, and immediately after too. It is also best to empty your bowel and bladder before using Cortifoam.
  2. Take applicator provided and insert it into your rectum.
  3. Spray foam into the cavity

For best results it is recommended that you lie down on your left side for at least 30 minutes after using Cortifoam hemorrhoid foam. This allows the liquid to distribute evenly through your intestines. Also try to avoid using the bathroom until the next morning if that’s something you are able to do.

The active ingredient in Cortifoam rectal foam is hydrocortisone.

Speak with your doctor in advance if you have any history of diabetes, congestive heart failure, tuberculosis, stomach ulcer or diverticulitis, kidney disease, myasthenia gravis, or high blood pressure before beginning to use Cortifoam.

Cortifoam may not be suitable for those who have had a colostomy or ileostomy.

Cortifoam should be used with caution if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and this should not be done unless a doctor has approved treatment in this way.

Drug interaction risks have been established between Cortifoam and certain insulin medications commonly taken by diabetics, with oral diabetes medications among them. Before proceeding to buy Cortifoam, tell your doctor about any other RX medications you are currently taking.

Side Effects

It is rare to see side effects related to use of Cortifoam hemorrhoid treatment, but some people may experience shortness of breath, swollen ankles or feet, muscle weakness, rapid weight gain, severe rectal pain or burning, bleeding from your rectum, or severe stomach pain. If any of these symptoms are seen then stop using the product and discuss other hemorrhoid treatment options with your doctor.
