What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

Healthy cats have healthy coats, but under all that lovely fur is where fleas hide themselves from view and do all the incessant biting that makes them so hated. Going through all that fur with a flea comb is a lot of work and not nearly effective enough for killing fleas on cats, so using a cat flea medication like Cheristin is a much better solution. One application will give your cat a full month of flea protection, and in 12 hours or so after applying Cheristin nearly all fleas will have taken their last bite ever.

  1. Hold applicator tube steady in hands and facing up.
  2. Press the cap down until you hear a click, which will break the seal and allow solution to come out of the applicator tip.
  3. Part the fur at the base of your cat’s skull and apply the entire contents of the applicator onto the exposed skin. Medication should be allowed to be absorbed into the skin naturally. Do not rub or touch the treatment area.
  4. Keep treated area dry for at least 4 hours.

Repeat once every month for effective flea prevention for cats.

The active ingredient in Cheristin for cats topical flea treatment is Spinetoram.

Never exceed dosage guideline – cats can only have one application per month. Speak with your veterinarian again if you feel the medication is not working well enough.
