Terms & Conditions of Program
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.
Chenodai is a pharmaceutical formulation containing chenodiol (chenodeoxycholic acid), a naturally occurring bile acid used primarily for the dissolution of cholesterol gallstones in selected patients. It works by reducing hepatic cholesterol secretion, thereby decreasing the cholesterol content of bile, which in turn helps dissolve cholesterol-based gallstones. Chenodai is typically prescribed for patients who are not candidates for surgical intervention and have radiolucent stones in a functioning gallbladder. It may also have investigational applications in certain metabolic and liver disorders under medical supervision.

Chenodai should be taken orally as prescribed by a healthcare provider. The usual adult dosage ranges from 13 to 16 mg/kg/day, divided into two doses with meals. Duration of therapy may range from several months to two years depending on gallstone dissolution rates confirmed via imaging. Periodic liver function monitoring is recommended during treatment.
Active Ingredient: Chenodiol (chenodeoxycholic acid) Inactive Ingredients: May include microcrystalline cellulose, lactose, magnesium stearate, and other excipients depending on the manufacturer.
Chenodai is contraindicated in patients with:
Close monitoring of hepatic function is required during treatment due to potential hepatotoxicity. Chenodai should be used with caution in individuals with a history of hepatobiliary disease or those taking other hepatically metabolized drugs. Regular gallbladder imaging is necessary to assess treatment efficacy and gallstone composition. This medication should not be used concurrently with drugs that alter cholesterol metabolism without medical guidance.
