Terms & Conditions of Program
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.
CAVERJECT Impulse Kit (Alprostadil) is an injectable prescription medication that is used to treat erectile dysfunction.
CAVERJECT works by relaxing the blood vessels and smooth muscles of the penis, allowing increased blood flow to fill the shaft. The extra blood becomes trapped in the lacunar spaces of the penis, causing an erection.
Your doctor must provide instructions and train you during the first CAVERJECT injection. The first injection will occur in the doctor’s office to determine the correct dose of the medication.
Do not change the dose of CAVERJECT on your own, always speak with your doctor first.
CAVERJECT is injected intracavernously 5 to 20 minutes before sexual activity. The injection should produce an erection lasting for 1 hour. CAVERJECT should not be used more than 3 times per week.
The active ingredient in CAVERJECT is alprostadil.
There have been no formal studies to examine the potential of drug-drug interactions between CAVERJECT alprostadil impulse kit and other medications. The risk of interactions is low because CAVERJECT does not absorb into the bloodstream to a significant extent.
Do not use a vial that is cloudy or discolored; if your vial looks like this discard it.
CAVERJECT offers no protection from sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
A small amount of bleeding may occur at the site of injection. This may increase the chance of transmitting blood-borne pathogens like HIV if either sexual partner carries the disease. Necessary protective measures should be used.
