Terms & Conditions of Program
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.
Bonhans is a chewable joint-support supplement for dogs. It should be used under the guidance of a registered veterinarian. Its main ingredients, glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate, support the cartilage that cushions and lubricates joints. It also contains MSM, vitamin C, zinc, manganese, and copper, which may help the body maintain collagen and cartilage. Bonhans can be used for joint health, osteoarthritis, recovery after fractures or joint surgery, and hip or elbow dysplasia.

Give Bonhans by mouth once per day. The daily amount depends on the dog's weight. A dog up to 5 kg takes half a tablet. From 5 to 10 kg, the range is half a tablet to one tablet. From 11 to 45 kg, it is one to two tablets. For dogs over 45 kg, the dosage is two to four tablets per day. Your veterinarian will recommend the right amount within these ranges.
For the first six weeks, give twice the usual daily amount. Then, slowly reduce the dose over about three weeks until you reach the regular daily amount. Give the tablets consistently, as improvement may take several weeks. Stop treatment and contact your veterinarian if your dog gets worse or does not improve. Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from light and children.
Each uncoated Bonhans tablet contains glucosamine hydrochloride, chondroitin sulfate, methylsulfonylmethane, ascorbic acid, zinc oxide, manganese gluconate, and copper gluconate, along with excipients.
Avoid giving this product if there is a known hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients.
Effects reported with glucosamine and chondroitin supplements in dogs generally involve the digestive tract and include:
Stop giving Bonhans and call your veterinarian if your dog vomits repeatedly, has diarrhea that will not settle, or stops eating for more than a day. Get veterinary help for facial swelling, hives, sudden intense itching, or labored breathing, any of which can mean an allergic reaction. Treat unexplained bruising or bleeding as urgent given the clotting caution on the label. If your dog gets into the bottle and eats a large number of tablets, contact a registered veterinary practitioner or an animal poison center immediately, since a big dose of zinc or copper can be harmful.
