Take Blexten (bilastine) tablets or oral suspension as instructed by your doctor. The recommended dosage is to take Blexten one time a day on an empty stomach; take at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating or drinking juices. Any questions or concerns you have about the medication should be referred to your doctor or pharmacist.

Cautions

  • Before you begin taking Blexten, be sure to discuss the following with your doctor:
    • All the prescription and non prescription medications you take.
    • Your allergies.
    • Your current health problems and past medical history, including any active or previous kidney problems.
    • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • A serious heart rhythm condition known as QT prolongation can occur with Blexten treatment. Taking other medications that can prolong the QT interval or if you or your family have or have had certain heart problems can increase your risk.
  • Patients with diabetes, liver problems, or phenylketonuria should use caution with the liquid formulation as it may contain sugar, aspartame, and alcohol.

Side Effects

Blexten can cause serious side effects such as a fast or abnormal heart rate, dizziness, or fainting. If you experience side effects that bother you or won’t go away, contact your doctor immediately.
