What is a Generic Drug?

Directions

Bisolvon is available in 8 mg tablets. The recommended dose is one tablet three times per day, taken orally with or without food. It is recommended to take this medicine with a full glass of water.

The active ingredient in Bisolvon is Bromhexine hydrochloride.

Contraindications

Discuss your allergies with your doctor. Do not take Bisolvon if you are allergic to bromhexine or any other components present in the medication.

Cautions

  • Before you start taking Bisolvon, inform your healthcare provider:
    • About any medications you take, especially antibiotics, as bromhexine may increase the absorption of antibiotics into the body.
    • About any medical conditions you have, including liver problems, kidney problems, stomach ulcers, or a history of severe allergic reactions.
    • If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. The effects of Bisolvon on pregnancy have not been fully studied, so it is important to discuss potential risks with your healthcare provider.
    • If you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. It is unknown whether Bisolvon can pass into breast milk, so caution is recommended.
  • Bisolvon may irritate the stomach lining and lead to the formation of ulcers. Symptoms can include persistent abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, nausea, and vomiting. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek immediate medical attention. 
  • Steven Johnson Syndrome is a rare, serious disorder of the skin and mucous membranes which can potentially be triggered by Bisolvon. Symptoms might include a rash that starts as small red spots, flu-like symptoms, and painful blisters on the skin and mucous membranes of the mouth, nose, eyes, and genital area. If these symptoms occur, seek immediate medical attention, as this can be a life-threatening condition.
  • Bisolvon can cause an allergic reaction. If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention immediately.

Side Effects

The most common side effects of Bisolvon include stomach discomfort, nausea, dizziness, and headache. If you experience any persistent or bothersome side effects, immediately contact your doctor.
