What is a Generic Drug?

Directions

The typical dose of Bezalip is one tablet taken two to three times daily with meals, or as directed by a healthcare provider. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully, and do not change the dose or stop taking the medication without consulting your doctor.

Ingredients

Each Bezalip 200 mg tablet contains 200 mg of bezafibrate as the active ingredient.

Contraindications

Do not take Bezalip if you have:

  • Allergies to bezafibrate or any other ingredients in Bezalip
  • Severe kidney or liver problems
  • Gallbladder disease

Do not take Bezalip if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or elderly due to the risk of potential adverse effects.

Cautions

  • Before you start taking Bezalip, inform your doctor:
    • About any allergies you have
    • About all medications you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medications
    • If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant
    • If you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed
    • About any pre-existing liver, kidney, or heart conditions
  • Bezalip can, in rare cases, lead to muscle problems which could progress to a more severe condition called rhabdomyolysis. If you experience muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, reach out to your healthcare provider immediately.
  • It may be necessary to have regular blood tests while on Bezalip to monitor your liver function and lipid levels.
  • Bezalip can increase the risk of photosensitivity. Use sunscreen or protective clothing before being exposed to the sun.

Side Effects

The most common side effects of Bezalip include headache, nausea, stomach discomfort, dizziness, and skin rashes. If you encounter any of these Bezalip side effects, or if they persist or worsen, contact your doctor or healthcare provider right away.

In rare cases, Bezalip can cause more serious side effects such as jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), dark urine, and severe abdominal pain. If you experience any of these, seek medical attention immediately.
