What is a Generic Drug?

Directions

Bensal HP ointment should be used only on the skin. Do not get the ointment in your eyes, nose, or mouth. Follow your prescription's instructions.

Before treating skin with Bensal HP ointment, clean the irritated skin with saline or water and pat dry with a clean towel or cotton gauze. 

The typical dose is to apply the ointment generously to the affected area(s) of the skin and spread evenly two times a day.

Wash your hands with soap and water before and after you apply the ointment. Do not cover the affected area(s) with an adhesive bandage unless directed by your doctor.

Ingredients

Salicylic acid is the active ingredient in Bensal HP.

Cautions

  • Discuss any allergies you may have with your doctor before using Bensal HP. Avoid using Bensal HP if you are allergic to salicylic acid or any of the other ingredients in Bensal HP.
  • Inform your doctor of all the medications you take, including prescription and non-prescription medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
  • Get emergency care right away if you have trouble breathing, hives, or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. These could be signs of a severe allergic reaction.
  • Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
  • Let your doctor know if you are currently breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed.

Side Effects

Burning or warmth at the application site(s) can be caused by Bensal HP. Immediately tell your doctor if you experience severe burning, skin irritation, or any other irritating or persistent side effects.
