Axid works by reducing the amount of acid produced by the stomach. Reducing acid secretion helps relieve symptoms like stomach pain, belching, sour taste in the mouth, nausea, and bloating.

Directions

Axid may be prescribed once or twice per day, depending on what is being treated. Take Axid medication exactly as directed by your doctor.

The normal dosage is 150-300 mg by mouth once or twice daily. It should be taken for 8-12 weeks, depending on what condition is being treated. Some people may need long-term treatment with Axid 150 mg once daily.

Axid should be taken with or without food at the same time each day.

Cautions

If you use Axid long term, you are at a greater risk of Vitamin B12 deficiency. Symptoms may include pale skin, weakness, shortness of breath, numbness/tingling of the nerves.

Tell your doctor if you have a history of kidney dysfunction. If so, you may need to take a lower dosage of Axid.
