Terms & Conditions of Program
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.
Aromasin (Exemestane) is a steroidal aromatase inhibitor used to treat breast cancer in postmenopausal women. It works by blocking the aromatase enzyme, reducing estrogen levels in the body, which can help slow or stop the growth of estrogen-dependent cancer. Typically, Aromasin is given as an oral tablet containing 25 mg of Exemestane. The drug is indicated for both early and advanced stages of breast cancer after menopause.

Aromasin is taken orally as a tablet, with the recommended dose being 25 mg once daily. It's recommended to take the tablet after a meal for better absorption. Swallow the tablet whole with some water. Avoid crushing, breaking, or chewing the tablets. Always follow your doctor’s instructions carefully to get the best results.
The active ingredient in Aromasin is Exemestane.
Avoid taking or using this medication if you have a known hypersensitivity to Exemestane or any of its ingredients.
Before taking Aromasin, you may want to consult a healthcare provider about the following:
Any existing health conditions
Any allergies
A list of all medications you are currently taking
Whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding
Aromasin can lead to bone loss, which increases the risk of fractures, especially in women who already have low bone density or osteoporosis. Doctors may recommend a bone scan before starting treatment and may suggest ways to protect bone health, such as calcium or vitamin D supplements.
Low vitamin D is common in women with early-stage breast cancer. Your doctor may check your vitamin D levels before starting Aromasin. If levels are low, vitamin D supplements may be needed.
Do not take Aromasin along with hormone treatments that contain estrogen. These products can interfere with how Aromasin works to block estrogen.
Some women may have changes in blood test results while taking Aromasin. This could include changes in liver enzymes, bilirubin, or kidney markers. These changes are usually mild but may be more common in women with advanced breast cancer. Your doctor may check blood tests during treatment.
Aromasin is only approved for use in women who have gone through menopause. It’s not meant for women who are still having regular periods.
Aromasin can cause serious harm to a developing baby. Do not take this medication if you’re pregnant. Women who can get pregnant should use birth control while taking Aromasin and for at least one month after the last dose.
Common side effects of Aromasin include hot flashes, fatigue, joint pain, headache, and increased sweating. Women with advanced breast cancer may also experience nausea or a boost in appetite. Trouble sleeping is also frequently reported. These side effects are typically manageable but should be discussed with your doctor if they persist or worsen.
Aromasin may also lead to more serious health issues, such as bone loss or a higher risk of fractures due to lower estrogen levels. Your doctor may monitor your bone health, especially if you already have osteoporosis or are at risk. Aromasin can also affect fertility in both men and women. Be sure to talk to your doctor if you have concerns about long-term health or reproductive plans.
