What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

Description

The reusable insulin pen Allstar Pro is designed for daily insulin injections and can be used for up to 3 years. It’s exclusively used with Sanofi 3 mL (300 units) U-100 insulin cartridges and delivers doses from 1 to 80 units in 1-unit steps.

Buy Allstar Pro insulin pen at Canada Drugs Direct at a low price.

Directions

Before the first use, you must insert a Sanofi insulin cartridge into the pen. Attach a new, sterile needle before each injection, and perform a safety test to ensure the pen and needle are functioning properly. During the test, you should set the dose to 2 units and press the dose button fully. You should see a drop of insulin appear at the needle tip. If this isn't the case, you may have to change the needle and check the cartridge.

Once the safety test is complete, select your prescribed dose and inject insulin as instructed by your healthcare provider, holding the dose button down and counting to 10. After each use, remove and discard the needle safely, then put the pen cap back on the insulin pen. However, store it with the insulin cartridge remaining inserted. Additionally, do not refrigerate or freeze the pen, but store it at room temperature (per the insulin instructions) away from direct sunlight. Use only a damp cloth to clean the device.

Ingredients

The Allstar Pro insulin pen consists of the reusable insulin pen, a dose selector, a dose window, a cartridge holder, and a pen cap. Compatible disposable needles are sold separately.

  • Never share your pen or insulin cartridge with anyone and do not reuse needles.
  • Always perform a safety test before every injection.
  • If you use more than one type of insulin, use a different pen for each one.
  • Do not press the dose button without a needle attached. Do not force it if it is hard to press.
  • Ask for help if you have trouble injecting insulin with Allstar Pro yourself.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

It is intended for people with diabetes who have been prescribed insulin and have received proper training on insulin injection technique from a healthcare professional.

Before each injection, a new needle should be attached and a safety test performed to ensure insulin is flowing correctly. The prescribed dose is then dialed before injection.
