Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

Aimovig is a prescription medication for migraine headache relief and used to prevent monthly migraine days before they begin. Aimovig injection is administered 1x a month. Never exceed dosage regulations and guidelines.
Remove autoinjector from the carton and wait at least 30 minutes so that the autoinjector can reach room temperature prior to injecting yourself.
Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water.
Choose your injection site – Thigh / outer area of upper arm / Abdomen (excluding a 2” area around your navel).
Pull white cap on injector off when you are ready to inject and stretch skin at injection site to create firm surface of skin for the injection.
Place the injector's green safety guard onto skin at a 90-degree angle.
Firmly push down the autoinjector onto skin until it stops moving.
Press purple start button to administer injection. Window on injector turns from clear to yellow as an indication that the injection is complete.
The active ingredient in Aimovig is Erenumab.
Inform your doctor of any history of high blood pressure or have an allergy to latex before beginning on Aimovig.
Aimovig should be stored in a refrigerator at a temperature of 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). If removed and stored at a room temperature of 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C) be sure to use entirety of medication within 7 days.
Medication should not be shaken or frozen.
Medication is only to be taken 1x each month. Do not exceed this dosage regulation and be sure to only administer migraine headache injection in one of the 3 designated injection spots - thigh, back of upper arm, or abdomen.
Be aware of medication's expiry date.
